Throughout the journey, you will share everyday moments with hosts, artisans, farmers, guides, and storytellers who welcome you into their communities. From preparing home-cooked meals and exploring traditional crafts to walking through rice terraces and listening to stories passed down through generations, each experience offers a deeper understanding of the people who call this region home.

Along the way, travel through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in northern Vietnam. From the magnificent terraced rice fields of Hoang Su Phi to the dramatic limestone peaks of the Dong Van Karst Plateau and the peaceful valleys hidden among the mountains.

Itinerary

DAY 1 | HANOI – HOANG SU PHI (L/D)

Our vehicle will pick you up at the meeting point in Hanoi before departing for Hoong Su Phi.

Along the journey, you will witness the changing scenery as the road passes through the rural countryside of Northern Vietnam.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant en route.

After approximately 6–7 hours of driving, arrive in Hoang Su Phi in the afternoon. Check in to your accommodation and enjoy some free time for a gentle walk around the surrounding area before dinner.

Overnight in Hoang Su Phi.

DAY 2 | TREKKING TO BAN LUOC VILLAGE (B/L/D)

Wake up to the fresh mountain air and enjoy breakfast before setting off on today’s trekking adventure.

Accompanied by your local guide, follow scenic trails through the heart of Hoang Su Phi’s spectacular terraced rice fields, recognized as a National Heritage Landscape. Along the way, you’ll pass working farms, forest paths, and small villages tucked into the mountains.

Meet local farmers tending their fields and, depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to join them in simple farming activities or pause for a conversation about daily life in the highlands.

Lunch will be served at a family home, offering a chance to enjoy traditional home-cooked dishes and experience the warm hospitality of your hosts in a relaxed and intimate setting.

In the afternoon, continue trekking toward Ban Luoc, home to some of the most beautiful rice terraces in the region.

By late afternoon, arrive at your homestay and settle into the peaceful surroundings. If you wish, join your host in preparing dinner before sharing a family-style meal together. You may also sample a small cup of locally made rice wine while enjoying an evening of conversation and mountain hospitality.

Overnight in Ban Luoc.

DAY 3 | HOANG SU PHI – HA GIANG – QUAN BA (B/L/D)

After breakfast, bid farewell to your hosts and continue your journey toward the Dong Van Karst Plateau.

After approximately three hours of driving, arrive at Thon Tha, a peaceful Tay village surrounded by rice fields and palm trees. Take a leisurely walk through the village, admire the traditional stilt houses, and experience the relaxed pace of everyday life.

Visit a small bamboo weaving workshop, where local artisans continue the craft passed down through generations. Enjoy a cup of tea before trying your hand at weaving a traditional bamboo basket while learning about the techniques, stories, and traditions behind this enduring craft.

Lunch featuring traditional Tay cuisine will be served in the village.

In the afternoon, continue toward the Dong Van Karst Plateau, stopping at several scenic viewpoints along the way:

  • Bac Sum Pass – famous for its winding mountain roads and sweeping valley views
  • Quan Ba Heaven Gate – the gateway to the Dong Van Karst Plateau
  • Quan Ba Twin Mountains – a well-known natural landmark surrounded by local legends

By late afternoon, arrive in Nam Dam, a peaceful Dao village nestled among the mountains.

Check in to your homestay and take some time to relax. Later, join your host in preparing dinner if you wish, or simply enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the village before gathering for a traditional family-style meal.

In the evening, experience the Dao Fire Dance, a traditional cultural performance that reflects the spiritual beliefs and customs of the Dao people.

Overnight in Nam Dam.

DAY 4 | QUAN BA – LUNG CU – DONG VAN (B/L/D)

After breakfast, continue your journey deeper into the heart of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, where dramatic limestone mountains and winding roads create one of Vietnam’s most remarkable landscapes.

Your first stop is Lao Xa, a quiet Hmong village known for its traditional clay houses and long-standing silver craftsmanship. Visit a family workshop where skilled artisans continue the centuries-old art of handcrafting Hmong silver jewelry using traditional casting and engraving techniques. Discover how these intricate pieces carry both cultural meaning and are worn during important life events and celebrations.

Next, visit the historic mansion of the former Hmong King and discover the architecture, history, and legacy of the Vuong family. The visit is introduced by descendants of the Vuong family, whose personal stories and family memories offer a unique perspective on the history of the mansion and the Hmong community.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue to Lung Cu, the northernmost point of Vietnam. Climb to the top of the flag tower and enjoy panoramic views across the surrounding mountains and the border landscape.

Later, visit Then Pa, a traditional Hmong village where daily life continues much as it has for generations. Take a leisurely walk through the village, admire the traditional earthen houses, and spend time with your host family while learning about local customs and everyday life.

By late afternoon, arrive in Dong Van Old Town and check into your hotel.

The evening is yours to explore the ancient streets, enjoy local specialties, or simply soak up the atmosphere of this historic mountain town.

DAY 5 | DONG VAN – MA PI LENG PASS – NHO QUE RIVER – DU GIA (B/L/D)

Enjoy breakfast before setting off for another spectacular day through the mountains of Ha Giang.

Travel along the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, widely regarded as one of the most scenic mountain roads in Southeast Asia. With its dramatic limestone cliffs and sweeping canyon views, this is one of the highlights of the journey.

Descend to the Nho Que River for a peaceful boat trip through the breathtaking Tu San Canyon, where towering rock walls rise above the emerald-green water.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Meo Vac.

In the afternoon, visit a small family-run honey farm and learn about traditional beekeeping and honey production in the mountains. Meet the owner, hear the story behind the business, and discover how local knowledge and generations of experience continue to shape this unique craft.

Continue through winding mountain roads and picturesque valleys toward Du Gia, a peaceful Tay village surrounded by lush green hills.

Upon arrival, settle into your homestay and take some time to relax. If you wish, join your host in preparing dinner before gathering around the table to enjoy a home-cooked meal together.

Spend a quiet evening sharing tea and conversation with your host family before another restful night in the mountains.

DAY 6 | DU GIA – HA GIANG CITY – HANOI (B/L)

On your final morning, enjoy breakfast prepared by the host family before beginning travel back to Ha Giang City.

15:00 – Arrive back at the Hergo Travel Office. Relax, share your travel experiences, and say goodbye to Hagiang.

You may then travel back to Hanoi, arrive to Hanoi in the evening. End of services.!
